Covid restrictions are all locally defined and may restrict group size and mask requirement. Check locally. In particular AMC has some extra restrictions on their hikes.

A.T. Vista 2021 is here! Below are available hikes sponsored by hiking organizations that you may join. Select the State and choose from the hikes that are of interest to you. There may be limitations so please read through the information for all details.

Additional hikes may be added, so check back for updates.

Note that as part of our celebration of the Appalachian Trail, photos and videos will be taken during this activity and may be used as part of promotional and marketing programs by the A.T. Vista Sponsors and affiliates. Your participation in any of these hikes grants the sponsoring organization the irrevocable right and permission to use photographs and/or video recordings in various marketing materials, or for any other similar purpose.

A.T. - Depot Hill Out and Back hike from Depot Hill Road to summit of Depot Hill and somewhat beyond. NY
A.T. - Gathland to Weverton Cliffs We will hike 12 miles at a moderate pace from Gathland State Park to Weverton Cliffs and return to the starting point. MD
A.T. Black Horse Gap to Mills Gap This hike is on the southernmost part of our club’s maintained section of the A.T. The trail parallels the Blue Ridge Parkway and has lovely views. We will be carpooling to Mills Gap (MP 91.8) and reform our carpool to Blackhorse Gap. Please call Roger in advance to join his hike. VA
A.T. Pawling to Dover Oak Out and back hike from Route 22 on Appalachian Trail to the Dover Oak on West Dover Road NY
Appalachian Trail - Fahnestock State Park A 2.4 mile loop hike on the Appalachian Trail starting on an old narrow gauge railbed and returning on the 3 Lakes Trail past an old mine. Suitable for Seniors or families with small children. NY
AT - Culver Gap to Sunrise Mountain Culver Parking Lot to Sunrise - 5.5 miles - 3 hrs. Folks will carpool back from Sunrise Parking lot. NJ
AT - Iris Trail loop from High Point Iris Trail to the AT - making a loop; either 5-8 miles; 3-5 hours. Bring 2 liters of water per person and snacks. NJ
AT - Pochuck Boardwalk - Saturday Join fellows hikers as we take as easy 5 mile round trip hike across active/retired cow fields and the mile long Pochuck Boardwalk. NJ

AT - Sunfish Pond and Raccoon Ridge We will meet at the Coppermine Trail parking area located at 41.038141, -75.027817, and shuttle down Old Mine Road to begin our hike at the Douglas Trail. We will climb up to the Appalachian Trail, and will then hike past the Backpacker Campsite, Sunfish Pond, and the 360 degree view on Raccoon Ridge, before descending on the Coppermine Trail, which will take us through a rhododendron filled ravine. We will then retrieve cars from the other lot if need be. This hike will be just shy of 8 miles, so please bring plenty of water and snacks. Also, part of this hike will be on a semi-exposed ridge, so please bring sunscreen/hat/sunglasses if you need. Please note that this hike will include a climb of about 1000' to start off with, some ups and downs along the way, and then descent of about 1000'. NJ
AT Clingmans Dome to Silars Bald and return We invite you to join us on a hike from Clingmans Dome (the highest point on the entire A.T.) to Silers Bald. We'll talk a little history, enjoy cooler high-elevation air, and have a birthday treat for the A.T.! TN
AT hike north from Damascus Trail Center Those doing the hike will join leaders Heidi Dixon White, Frank White and Sharon Trumbley and head north out of Damascus uphill on the Appalachian Trail, returning to Town via the Iron Mtn. Trail. Distance: about 5 miles. VA
AT Rattlesnake Swamp - Catfish Pond Loop Loop on the AT and Rattlesnake Swamp trails with an optional swim in Catfish Pond at the end. Lunch at the Catfish fire tower. NJ
AT Sages Ravine and Race Mountain Join us to explore beautiful Sages Ravine and Race Mountain with views to Greylock! Conditions will determine the route, but the hike will be about 8 miles with a elevation gain of about 900 feet. Storm weather cancels the hike. MA
AT Sherman Brook and Eph's Lookout We will hike the Sherman Brook Trail on the AT with a stop at the Sherman Brook tent site. Then we proceed up the boulder field to the blue blazed side trail then begin our return. Along the way we will stop at a lovely outlook with a nice view down the valley. We will follow the side trail back to the AT and our cars. MA
Bears Den Center Open House - Saturday Blue Ridge Chapter of Potomac Appalachian Trail Club will host an Open House at Bears Den Hostile at Bears Den on Saturday August 7, 2021, to coordinate with the inaugural A.T. Vista weekend to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Benton MacKaye's 1921 article, “An Appalachian Trail: A Project in Regional Planning”. Come out and learn about the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club and our newest chapter, Blue Ridge Chapter. A forest bathing walk demonstration will be held at 2pm. VA
Bears Den Center Open House - Sunday PATC will be hosting a family-oriented event that will be held at Bears Den on Sunday August 8, 2021, to coordinate with the inaugural A.T. Vista weekend to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Benton MacKaye's 1921 article, “An Appalachian Trail: A Project in Regional Planning”. Come spend the day out hiking with the family, learning about the AT and PATC as well as other family activities. A short family hike to the overlook will be held at 11am and a Forest Bathing Walk demonstration will be held at 2pm. VA
Black Horse Gap This hike is on the southernmost part of our club’s maintained section of the A.T. The trail parallels the Blue Ridge Parkway and has lovely views. VA
Catoctin Trail - South of Manor Area We will start at the Manor Area of Cunningham Falls State Park, then follow the CT south for several miles. After hiking various side trails, we will reach the CT / Death March Trail intersection, then go north on the CT to the Manor Area MD
Charles Bunion This scenic in-and-out hike will follow the A.T. from Newfound Gap to a spectacular lunch spot at Charlies Bunion. After lunch we’ll do a side trip to Mt. Kephart and the Jumpoff. This hike is #27 of the 100 Favorite Trails. It is being offered as a local event during the A.T. Vista 2021 weekend. NC
Clingman's Dome This iconic section of the A.T. will take us to the highest point on the entire A.T., Clingmans Dome, at 6643 ft. We will then hike Trail south, hopefully catching views of Lake Fontana from Mt. Buckley, passing Double Springs Shelter, and onward to Silers Bald. This high elevation hike should be delightful in the summer months. Along the way, we'll discuss the creation of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the A.T., as well as the work by the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club that goes into caring for our 100 miles of Trail in the National Park and Nantahala National Forest. Coker Creek Falls Parking Lot to TN68 First 3 miles downhill through the Coker Creek Gorge with impressive waterfalls. Then cross bridge over Coker Creek on BMT and hike 4 mild-moderate miles uphill to TN 68. Meet at TN68 crossing of BMT at 9 AM, north of where TN68 leaves Hiwassee River. We will leave some cars there, then drive to the Coker Creek Falls parking lot. TN
Culver's Gap Join us in celebrating AT Vista 2021 on a nice 13 mile loop hike in the woods, past a lake and old beaver ponds to lovely Tillman Ravine in Stokes State Forest where we'll eat lunch by a cool waterfall. On the way back, we will climb the ridge to the Appalachian Trail past the recently built Brink shelter and walk northbound where we'll have beautiful views of Culver Lake. About 700' of elevation gain, and about 500' of elevation loss. NJ
Damascus history walk from Damascus Trail Center Those doing the Damascus history walk will join leaders Bunny Medeiros and Anne Maio for a loop walk of about 2 miles through town on level terrain, learning about the history of the Trail Town. VA
Davenport Gap Davenport Gap is the northern end of the BMT and where the AT leaves the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. From here the group will hike out and back south on the AT, sharing stories of the visionaries that started these two additional to our national treasures. Following, "Dr. Mary” will provide trail magic to AT hikers at the gap of water, snacks, and foot cleaning and massage—her addition to the AT Chaplaincy program. Number of miles: Mutually agreed upon, but no more than 8 miles, allowing for Trail Magic Time. TN
Harper's Ferry In celebration of 100 years of the Appalachian Trail, join us for a historic hike along the Murphy Farm House Trail, Appalachian Trail, and the C&O Canal in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. We’ll hike along these historic paths and also visit the Appalachian Trail headquarters with views of the world’s longest trail. This is an easy level 5-6 mile hike. WV
Jockey Hollow section of Morristown National Historic Park An easy 3 or 4 mile hike from the parking lot. We'll take the Orange Trail to connect to the green Aqueduct Trail down to Trail Center.  From there we'll cross the road and take the Primrose Brook Loop; there will be rock hopping across the brook in several locations.  Then back to the Trail Center, and will decide return hike back to the cars from that point as there's a choice of trails.  If a re-enactor is available, we'll get some REV War history at the soldier huts. NJ
Koonford Bridge Family Friendly walk from the Dennis Cove trailhead to Koonford Bridge (as featured in March 2021 club newsletter) and back. The path is a level rails-to-trail conversion except for the last short section down to the stream and bridge. This hike will not visit Laurel Falls with its many rock steps from this direction. TN
Lehigh Gap This is a loop hike starting and finishing at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center. We'll take a Nature Center trail over to the AT, and then follow the AT (south) to Ashfield Furnace Road. From there we'll take alternate trails that parallel the AT to come back. These will include the South Trail which is a mile long boulder scramble and the North Trail which will (eventually) be the new route for the AT. We'll then take Nature Center trails back down the mountain to where we started. This hike has a typical rocky Pennsylvania ascent (1000 feet) and a significant boulder field. PA

Mill Creek The Mill Creek loop is not part of the AT but it offers abundant plant and animal life and shows off a beautiful section of the Jefferson National Forest! VA

PA-225 to PA-325 This hike is a one-way hike which will involve a shuttle at the beginning. We then will begin the hike at PA-225 traveling north on Peters Mountain, passing the Table Rock vista, Peters Mountain Shelter, Kinter View and then descending the ridge to PA-325. Participants Must Register with leader by Saturday, July 31st. PA
PA-325 to Green Point School Road The section of the A.T. that is included in this hike is maintained by two maintaining clubs, SATC and BMECC (Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club), which allows for the opportunity for our neighboring clubs to join in co-leading this hike. This hike begins by ascending on the trail from PA-325 to the ridge of Stony Mountain; it continues through Saint Anthony’s Wilderness, passing Yellow Springs, Cold Springs, Rausch Gap Shelter, and a beaver dam (bring water shoes for crossing the beaver dam). The hike ends with a descent to Green Point School Road near Swatara State Park. Participants Must Register with leader by Saturday, July 31st. PA

Rice Fields We will hike Rice Fields. Rice Fields is an iconic ridgeline mountain meadow at 3350 feet above sea level with a unique ecology that promotes bird and butterfly migration. Not to mention the great views from the top! VA
Stratton Mountain hike, round trip from Kelly Stand Road The round trip to the summit with the fire tower is 7.6 miles, with an elevation gain of 1730 feet from the trailhead on the Kelly Stand (Arlington-West Wardsboro) Rd. This is a moderately strenuous hike. There is a 360 degree view from the fire tower. VT
